Glyndebourne jug

£75.00

Glyndebourne, the magical and world-renowned opera house nestled in the South Downs, is just outside Lewes. It is on the route Sussex artist Keith Pettit takes to get to his studio, so it was an obvious landmark for him to celebrate in a wood engraving.

The jug also features his song thrush, and the swallow that goes with the summer season of which Glyndebourne Festival is such a part. Some of the many operas that have been performed here over the 90 years since the first festival was held in 1934 complete this celebration.

Slip cast ceramic jug 11.5 cm tall with a 9cm diameter at base and neck this jug holds approximately 1 pint. It is also available as a large jug holding 4 pints.

Hand-painted pink lustre - the hand-made nature of our ware means that it is subject to minor imperfections, just like those from the early C19 that are our inspiration.
