Shoe and volcano mug

£45.00 - £55.00 / Made to Order

This mug is decorated with drawings by author and illustrator Ian Archie Beck.

It is part of a collection derived from work Ian created for 'Les Frères Perverts', a cabaret act he formed in 1975 with his friend, fellow artist Glynn Boyd Harte.

'Les Frères' performed until the year before Glynn's death in 2003. As Ian notes in his 2022 book about GBH (as he liked to be known), "as far as Glynn was concerned the performances were more or less an excuse to make printed ephemera".

Glynn often included ceramics in his paintings, notably pieces designed by Eric Ravilious for Wedgwood, and we like to think he would have approved these pots celebrating the joys of artistic invention, creative collaboration and playful fraternity (like Ian, Glynn was a Brother, then Master, of the Art Workers' Guild.)
