MADE TO ORDER - Summer jug
£195.00 / Made to Order
'Summer is icumen in' is a C13 medieval English song sung in the round. It is also known as the 'Cuckoo Song', and it celebrates the arrival of summer.
This 'Liverpool' shape jug features the artwork of Clive Hicks-Jenkins. Clive says: "The inspiration for the images springs from my love of folk art and folk toys, and I borrowed ideas too from the work I recently did illustrating Marly Youmans’ ‘Seren of the Wildwood’, which also featured folk-inspired animals. Summer is icumen in, and it’s going to be glorious!"
The jug has a capacity of 4 litres (7 pints) and is 25cm tall (nearly 10").
Transfer printed and decorated with pink lustre.
The hand-made nature of our ware means that it is also subject to minor imperfections, just like those from the early C19 that are our inspiration.
